Strategic, Capable, Innovative, Accountable: Four Steps to Smarter Government

At the end of the Commission’s year-long programme of work, this paper sums up our analysis, and sets out a four-step plan to make government fit to tackle the challenges our country faces.

Better Digital Government

This paper is the final policy output of our Technology and Data workstreams. It puts forward nearly 60 recommendations for the Government to level up its digital infrastructure across Whitehall, including a plan to move government IT systems onto the cloud with accelerated use of digital ID; a powerful Chief Digital Officer to drive through changes; and proposals for a National Digital Council.
